The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office formally opened a new location in Phoenix on October 5, 2026, establishing a dedicated post to support Taiwanese companies operating in or expanding to the state. The ribbon-cutting and plaque unveiling brought together state and international officials, including Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs, Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego, TECO Phoenix Director General Kevin Chiao, and Taiwan Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Chia-Lung Lin.

The opening follows the establishment of the Taiwan Trade & Investment Center earlier this year. Bilateral trade between Arizona and Taiwan reached more than $21.2 billion in the previous year, making Taiwan the state's second-largest trading partner. State exports to Taiwan totaled $4.5 billion, while imports reached $16.7 billion, largely driven by transactions in semiconductor manufacturing, computer equipment, and related technology components.

Alongside the office launch, the Arizona Commerce Authority entered into a memorandum of understanding with Taiwan's National Innovation & Entrepreneurship Association. The agreement establishes a framework for workforce training, institutional research connections, supply chain collaboration, and investor matchmaking between businesses and startups in both regions.
