The California Avocado Festival held its 40th anniversary event in downtown Carpinteria from October 2 through October 4, 2026. The free three-day community festival, run as an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, was established in 1986 to support regional businesses, agricultural heritage, and local charitable groups.

The event featured more than 60 musical acts across four stages, including a youth stage supported by the Santa Barbara Bowl. Program highlights included the traditional opening ceremony at the Seal Fountain led by honorary chairs Cecilio and Mary Marquez of Rancho Cecila, an avocado-holding endurance contest, a costume competition, a guacamole recipe contest, and an auction hosted by the Future Farmers of America.

Organizers noted that the festival serves as the town's largest community fundraising event, generating an estimated $100,000 for local nonprofit organizations operating food and activity booths. In addition to vendor fundraising, the festival organization distributes more than $20,000 in annual grants to community groups, including the Carpinteria Education Foundation, the FFA, and local youth organizations. Agricultural education exhibits, including grafting demonstrations, were presented at the Bliss Family Expo Tent throughout the weekend.
