Aerospace and defense contractor BAE Systems has acquired a 130,000-square-foot production facility situated on roughly 13 acres in Weld County, Colorado state officials announced. The company plans to use the site to expand production capacity for space-based hardware and sensor systems.

The expansion is projected to generate more than 200 jobs over the next 12 to 24 months, with total employment potentially reaching approximately 600 workers at full capacity. Roles will include manufacturing engineers, machinists, technicians, supervisors, and supply chain planners. BAE Systems chose Colorado for the project after also evaluating locations in Ohio and Texas.

State support includes up to $11.18 million in performance-based Job Growth Incentive Tax Credits over eight years, approved by the Colorado Economic Development Commission, alongside CHIPS Refundable Tax Credits. Additionally, Colorado's Opportunity Now Tax Credit will cover half the cost of $5.3 million in equipment purchases to assist with workforce training. BAE Systems plans to retrofit the building and procure equipment through the remainder of the year, with production targeted to launch in early 2028.
