The annual TEDxBreckenridge speaker conference will take place Saturday, Oct. 3, at the Riverwalk Center at 150 W. Adams Ave. in Breckenridge. The event runs from 3 to 6 p.m. with tickets priced at $55.
This year's featured speaker is Kurt Kionka, project director for the Colorado Department of Transportation overseeing the Floyd Hill project along Interstate 70. His presentation will address the planning and management of the $905 million infrastructure initiative, which covers an eight-mile section of the highway extending between Evergreen and Idaho Springs. Kionka will outline how the project team advanced the long-delayed highway overhaul through strategic adjustments and major construction funding.
In addition to the transportation address, eight other regional experts are scheduled to speak on a range of technical, environmental, and social subjects. Presentation topics include the deployment of quantum technology in mining, social anxiety among teenagers, an Indigenous history of music, and using pika behavior to assess climate conditions.
